The safety of our members comes first. We collect as little personal information as possible, and we never publish information that could put a member at risk. This policy follows the Uganda Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 and the data protection rules of the DRC Digital Code.
What we collect
- Membership: name, phone number, country, district or territory, type of work, age group, and gender if you choose to give it.
- Messages and complaints: what you write to us, and your contact details only if you choose to give them.
- Sales records (when this service starts): date, weight, purity and buyer of sales you choose to record.
We do not collect exact site locations, and we do not ask for national ID numbers on this website.
How we use it
- to process your membership and issue your member card;
- to send you notices, training dates and alerts;
- to respond to your messages and complaints;
- to prepare summary figures (for example, the number of women members) that never identify individuals.
Who sees it
Your details are seen only by the officers who need them: those who process registrations, and the grievance officer for complaints. We do not sell personal information. Buyers, partners and donors see only summaries.
We share personal information with authorities only where the law requires it, and we will tell you if that happens unless the law forbids it.
How we keep it safe
- Member records are kept behind a password, with access limited by role.
- The website uses a secure connection (HTTPS).
- Records are backed up regularly in a second secure place.
- Membership records are kept while you are a member and for two years after, then deleted.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. You can withdraw your consent at any time. Contact our data and privacy officer using the details below.
